Standards for Sandblasting, Stenciling Cutting, Shape Carving and Design
Thousands of people sandblast monuments. The purpose of this board is to suggest industry standards, appraise craftsmanship and expand education opportunities within the field. The certification program allows participants to identify their strengths and weaknesses. Once certified, participants have credentials that endorse their skill and level of expertise. MSCB grants certification in three categories; Sandblast, Shape Carving, Layout.

Sandblaster
Journeyman
1) Written exam
2) Skills test
3) 1 year minimum experience
On-site Journeyman
1) Written exam
2) Skills test
3) 1 year experience
Shape Carver
Journeyman/Advanced/Master
Single/Double
Journeyman
1) Pass Single or Double Process written exam
2) Pass basic skills test
3) Qualify as a Journeyman Sandblaster
4) 1 year minimum experience as a Journeyman Sandblaster
Advanced Journeyman
1) Pass Single and Double Process written exam
2) Pass advanced skills test
3) 5 years minimum experience as a Journeyman Sandblaster
4) Submit 5 photographs of work personally completed exhibiting skills for review
Master
1) Pass Master Stencil Cutter exam and qualify for Master Certification.
2) Pass Master skills test
3) Must qualify as Journeyman Stencil cutter or better and have qualified as an Advanced Journeyman.
4) Write 5 page essays explaining sandblast/shape carving philosophy.
5) Submit 15 photographs of work personally completed exhibiting skills for review.

5) Write 5 page essays on explaining approach to completing an project assigned by the examiners.
Designer
1) Pass Master Stencil Cutter exam and qualify for Master Certification.
2) Write 10 page essays explaining personal design philosophy.
3) Submit 15 original designs for rating.
